Change the site's settings

Change the site's name, logo, contact details, search defaults and tracking tools, and know that settings go live as soon as you save.

Some things belong to the whole site rather than to one page: its name, its logo, the contact email in the footer. These are the site’s settings. At Tidewater, the marketing team changes the tagline here when the pitch changes.

After reading this guide, you will know:

  • Where the settings are, and what is in each group.
  • How to change one.
  • Why a saved change is live at once.

1. Open the settings

Choose Site settings in the sidebar, under Structure. You see a short list of groups. Open the one you want.

Group Holds
Site the name, tagline, logo, favicon (the small icon in the browser tab), contact email and social links
SEO how pages look in search results by default. See Fix search results, share cards and broken links
Integrations analytics tools and snippets of your own. See Add analytics and custom code

Whoever built your site may have added more groups. You only see the groups your role allows.

2. Change a setting

  1. Open the group, for example Site.
  2. Change the field. A logo is chosen from the asset library, like any other image.
  3. Choose Save.

To add a social link, choose Add link, then fill in its label and address.

3. Saving is live at once

Warning

Site settings have no drafts. The moment you save, the change is on the live site. Check the field before you save.

Pages you have not touched pick up the new setting too: change the tagline and every page that shows it changes.

If you save something by mistake, open the group and change it back.

4. Screens that ask for your password

Integrations runs code on every live page. Nibble asks for your password again before it opens. Enter it and carry on. The other groups open straight away.
